The Time Has Come...
Alright, this is my 3rd Stop Motion feature and my first since 2008.... I know I've been away from the for longer than I should...
I initially drafted this short animation for the Astro Contentpoopoor thing last year, but it only ended up being a bunch of test shots. I came up with the idea while eating M&Ms and looking through my INT assignment, which was due the following day. It was one of those times where i just pulled one out of my mouth to stare at for no apparent reason aside from the fact that it colour faded, and all that was left was the white sugar coated chocolate.... and... well I probably shouldn't go on to ramble.
- a snapshot from one of the early "test shots"
The making of this film spanned 21 days, 18 for shooting and 3 for editing. I intended to release a segment on "The Making Of" alongside the film, but for some odd reason there was no video at all when I uploaded it to Youtube... TWICE!
So, till thats up, heres some trivia on "The Making"
The 23-second opening ad for W3! Films is dedicated to Malaysia's most beloved censorship board, and "Big Brother" (The Internet Fuzz).
The animation comprises of 7011 frames, inclusive of a couple of scenes that were reshot. All sound clips were mostly news recordings or just sound bytes from the happenings in Malaysia over the last 3 years (news, speeches, rallies, raw footage), alongside the audio from various historical raw footage.
I wanted to do something more with this one, I want this to be more than just a "stop motion" feature. I did not want to make a film which offend anyone, I wanted to make a film that demonstrated and tested the maturity of all who may view it.
I want it to stand as critical illustration of various ongoing issues in the world and in out country and appeal as a clear cut message to the powers that be.. It is a film for YOU to interpret and reflect upon in your own way.
-the original promotional picture/poster (note release date)
I know its asking abit much considering I am not an animation/film student, but I would like to let all of you know, that I have given this piece of work my best and that I made it for you, all of you, people I love, care about, my fellow countrymen, comrades and activists.
Ladies and Gents, I give you... The Colour Of Ideas (Watch it in HD if you can, though for some reason it screws up the opening title a little... :D) OH DEAR GOD.... Blogger Screwed me over.. WATCH IT FULLSCREEN! The mini-player got cut off by my template!

other local works I have found.
I decided to do some googling... searching for other local works of this medium.
Note: like me, these are student/amature productions so a smooth frame rate isn't what you're looking for, unless you're already studying animation.
Alright, my film will probably sit on the opposite of the spectrum here... I don't have 1Malaysia XD

One of the better ones, because there was the attempt to convey a message, which I value above most things in animation, film and so on. Nice one mate.
Well this next one isn't exactly stop motion, and its a professional production... apparently. Still worthy of mention though, kudos.
I'm guessing its an ad for Ferrero Rocher
Some kind of music video... i guess......... XD

My goal with this film, was to do something new, refreshing, and most importantly informative. I want this film, to say something to/about this country, or perhaps the world.
I really hope I don't disappoint... come the 25th.
